Griffin™ HD8-R
Midwave Infrared Camera Core (MWIR)
The Griffin™ HD8-R MWIR camera core is a high-definition cryocooled infrared camera featuring a 1280 × 720 resolution sensor built with High Operating Temperature (HOT) Type-II Strained Layer Superlattice (T2SL) detector technology. Designed for advanced mid-wave infrared (MWIR) imaging, the Griffin™ HD8-R captures high-quality snapshot MWIR imagery for demanding surveillance, targeting, and sensing applications.
The 8 µm pixel pitch enables more pixels on target when paired with shorter focal length optics, helping reduce overall system size, weight, and complexity. This design makes the Griffin™ HD8-R particularly effective for compact infrared imaging systems where performance and miniaturization are critical.
Equipped with a high-efficiency rotary cooler, the Griffin™ HD8-R delivers fast cooldown performance and optimized power consumption, making it well suited for handheld and man-portable platforms where energy efficiency is essential.
The Griffin™ HD8-R sensor also supports broadband MWIR imaging along with day- and night-time laser see-spot detection, expanding its operational versatility for a wide range of mission profiles.
With a compact 223 cm³ volume and a weight under 250 grams, this rotary-cooled MWIR camera core is designed for low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) environments, making it ideal for small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), handheld devices, and soldier-carried infrared imaging systems.
